Welcome to the College for Financial Planning’s monthly audio series, Financial Planning Perspectives 2008. This month’s presentation, October 2007, will focus on “Introduction to Socially Responsible Investing” by Phil Kirshman, CFA, CFP®.
Phil has served as the Director of Business Development for Progressive Asset Management, Inc., since 2004. In this role, Phil brings Progressive Asset Management’s story to a larger audience. He is instrumental in assisting financial advisors to transition their independent brokerage practices to the PAM network—the socially responsible division of Financial West Group (FWG), member FINRA, SIPC. He also provides support to existing PAM network financial advisors to help them grow their businesses and develop new avenues of growth for PAM.
Progressive Asset Management—PAM—is a leader in SRI, having served socially and environmentally conscious investors since 1987. PAM has developed a number of innovative products for SRI investors including their proprietary Progressive Track Investments, Socially Screened Index Tracking models, their recently launched Hybrid Energy CD, and their proprietary Shareholder Alert Service. PAM also co-sponsored a special community investment note with the Calvert Social Investment Foundation to raise funds to help rebuild the Gulf Coast region following hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Phil has been a portfolio manager and financial consultant since 1993. He holds active registrations through PAM’s affiliated broker-dealer Financial West Group (FWG) for FINRA; series 3, 7, 24, 63, 65 registrations; and is licensed to sell life and health insurances. Phil holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certificant.
